The Hazel Henderson Center is a place where ideas meet action. Transformative Dialogues funding supports the convenings, roundtables, salons, and working retreats that bring scholars, entrepreneurs, investors, educators, journalists, policymakers, artists, and community leaders together to explore the interconnected challenges of our time. Hazel Henderson believed deeply in the power of conversation — that lasting change requires bringing the right people into the same room, with enough time and trust to think together honestly.

The Center carries forward that conviction by hosting intimate, high-quality gatherings designed not just for networking, but for genuine collaborative sensemaking and collective action. Your support helps cover event logistics, participant travel, facilitation, and the documentation of dialogue outcomes — ensuring that each convening generates public value that extends well beyond the gathering itself through shared publications, webinars, and community-of-practice development. Funding also supports the development of a founding program partner network of 15 to 20 mission-aligned organizations that will anchor the Center's convening ecosystem for years to come.

The Hazel Henderson Center Leadership Residency Program invites scholars, writers, activists, researchers, artists, and entrepreneurs to spend one to four weeks at the Center in St. Augustine, Florida, who are working across the Center’s seven programmatic focus areas. Residents live and work on-site with access to the living library, collaborative gathering spaces, and a community of engaged thinkers — dedicated time and space designed for deep reflection, focused research, and meaningful creative work. Residencies are available September through May.

In the spirit of Hazel Henderson's own collaborative approach, residents are asked to give something back — a workshop, a public talk, a written summary, or a webinar — ensuring that each residency contributes to the broader community of learning the Center cultivates. Your donation helps cover room and board, travel support, and programming coordination, making it possible for the Center to welcome a diverse range of residents regardless of financial means and to ensure that each stay advances ethical and green economy work.

Support a dedicated fund that will help develop transformative programs and initiatives at the Center — furthering Hazel’s legacy of visionary, future-forward thinking.  Help us develop and offer courses, workshops, and certification programs focused on sustainability, conscious leadership, and systems innovation.  Specific philanthropic contributions will expand fellowships and applied learning in five core areas: social entrepreneurship, green transition, ethical finance, systems innovation, and holistic, retreat-based learning.

The Hazel Henderson Center carries forward the legacy of Hazel Henderson (1933–2022), futurist, ecological economist, and pioneer of the global sustainability movement. Located at her former home in St. Augustine, Florida, the Center advances interdisciplinary learning, leadership development, and systems change through residencies, research, strategic convenings, and community partnerships. Its mission is grounded in Henderson's conviction that economic success must be measured not only by financial growth, but by environmental health, social well-being, democratic participation, and quality of life. By convening scholars, entrepreneurs, investors, educators, journalists, policymakers, artists, and community leaders, the Center builds the interdisciplinary networks essential for lasting change.

The Hazel Henderson Center is rooted in St. Augustine and committed to being a genuine resource for its surrounding community, as well as a national and global convening space. We are seeking local grant funding which supports programming that connects neighbors, artists, students, and organizations to the Center's mission through accessible, place-based initiatives, including meetings, workshops, and events that bring together community members and leaders to catalyze programs and projects advancing The Hazel Henderson Center’s strategic priorities.

Grant funding sustains our Wednesday and summer programming, supports donation-based and sliding-scale access, and deepens our partnerships with St. Augustine civic and cultural organizations. In keeping with the Center's reciprocity model, participating groups share outcomes from their gatherings, turning local convenings into lasting resources for the wider community.

The Research Fellowship Residency Program offers fellows dedicated time and space to pursue independent research projects within one or more of Hazel Henderson’s seven identified priority areas of global change: technology and production; employment, work, and migration; trade, finance, debt, and information; peacebuilding and the impacts of militarization; pollution and resource depletion; consumption patterns and global culture; and social and institutional restructuring. Fellows draw upon the Center’s extraordinary intellectual resources—including a living library of more than 5,600 books, publications, and 1,000+ journal issues—alongside the archives, professional networks, and programmatic community of the Center itself.

Grant funding supports post-doctoral stipends, program coordination, research materials, facilities, and evaluation across the inaugural program period. These resources allow the Center to recruit and support post-doctoral residents and build the operational foundation for a program of lasting scholarly and practical significance.

Program, which places undergraduate students from any academic discipline into hands-on, meaningful work at the intersection of sustainability, ethical finance, and social innovation. Housed at Hazel Henderson’s former home in St. Augustine, Florida, the Center carries forward the legacy of one of the twentieth century’s most influential ecological economists and futurists, offering rising leaders direct access to her archive, her network, and her unfinished work.

This request seeks funding to underwrite intern stipends, program coordination, housing and campus support, and mentorship infrastructure, allowing the Center to move from an unfunded, ad hoc internship experience to a sustainable, paid fellowship model that removes financial barriers to participation and deepens the quality and impact of every placement.

Organizations and individuals are invited to become part of the Center’s community, hosting programs at the Hazel Henderson Center—the historic St. Augustine home that Hazel gifted as a permanent hub for the ethical economy movement.

Program Partners bring their teams, agendas, and participants. The Center, in turn, offers the inspiration of place, a legacy of transformative dialogue, meeting and lodging spaces, access to Hazel’s library, and platforms to publish and communicate the outcomes of these important gatherings.
