The Hazel Henderson Center sits in a St. Augustine neighborhood, and is committed to being a genuine resource for it — not only a national and global convening space. Act Locally is how that commitment takes shape: programming the Center runs for its own community, and an open door for local groups who need a place to gather.
Programming at the Center
Throughout the year the Center hosts community events, open houses, workshops, and classes that connect neighbors, artists, students, and local organizations to its mission. Free public workshops at the Center's Community Permaculture Garden cover sustainable gardening, composting, and regenerative landscape practices — every technique demonstrated is one a visitor can carry home and repeat the same weekend. Alongside these run partnerships with St. Augustine's civic and cultural organizations, bringing neighbors into work that might otherwise stay behind closed doors.
Donation-based and sliding-scale pricing keeps these offerings broadly accessible, so that cost is never what decides who takes part.
Host Your Gathering Here
We welcome mission-aligned groups to host meetings, conferences, and retreats that spark innovative ideas and regenerative solutions. These gatherings are rooted in lived experience, collaborative learning, and personal growth — all in service of restoring balance to our world.
Our meeting spaces host a wide spectrum of gatherings that bring people together to imagine and design a more ethical and green future. These dialogues range from small, focused strategy sessions for researchers, activists, and entrepreneurs, to cross-sector convenings where business leaders, students, and policymakers exchange ideas. The Center also welcomes gatherings that foster collaboration across generations and disciplines. Whether intimate roundtables or larger facilitated gatherings, these meetings create the conditions for deep listening, creative problem-solving, and collective action.
Availability: Wednesdays and summer
Offering: meetings, classes, conferences, or day retreats. Longer meetings can be discussed.
Cost: sliding scale contribution
Reciprocity: as part of our knowledge-sharing mission, we invite groups to contribute back by sharing the outcomes of their gathering in the form of a webinar, article, or written summary for our News Feed.
Groups planning a longer, residential gathering — several days on site, with lodging — are welcome too, through the Center's Program Partners program.
