About Hazel HendersonHazel Henderson spent sixty years building one of the most far-reaching bodies of work in modern economic thought. Nine books — including the Axiom and Nautilus award-winning Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy. A globally syndicated column published in 27 languages across more than 200 newspapers. The Emmy-nominated Ethical Markets television series on PBS. The Green Transition Scoreboard®, which tracked over $10 trillion in private investments in the green economy. Planetary Citizenship, co-authored with Buddhist leader Daisaku Ikeda. Contributions to more than 250 academic journals. And the Hazel Henderson and Alan F. Kay Library — 6,000 volumes on sustainable development, systems thinking, and the economics of life, now housed at the Center that bears her name.
A Friend of Hazel Henderson is not just supporting a building. You are supporting the ongoing life of all of it — the ideas, the archive, the media, the next generation of thinkers who will carry her work into a world that needs it more than ever.
If her work has ever changed how you see the world, this is your invitation to help keep it alive.
Why give?
-
Because her ideas are more urgent now ever
Hazel spent sixty years arguing for an economy that measures what actually matters — care, health, community, the living world. She was ahead of her time. She is no longer ahead of it. The Center exists to keep those ideas moving, teaching, gathering, and reaching the people who need them most — right now.
-
Because her legacy deserves to live
Hazel donated her home. Her community donated their time. What the Center needs to continue is the kind of broad, recurring support that doesn't depend on a single major donor or a lucky grant cycle. Every Friend who gives — at any level — is part of the distributed foundation that keeps this institution independent, resilient, and alive.
-
Because something real is happening here, today.
A new intern is learning her work. College students are sitting in her library twice a week. A poetry circle is forming around her words. The Research Library is open and in use. This is not a memorial. It is a living institution — and it stays alive because people who love Hazel's work choose to sustain it.
Make a Donation
Friends are the wide circle of people who love Hazel’s work and want to see the Center thrive. There are no requirements, no committees, no lengthy forms. A gift of any amount — beginning at $20 — makes you part of the community that keeps her legacy alive.
